I wanted to hang a 32 lb. recumbent trike from my garage ceiling--but for safety I wanted a bicycle hook that would handle at least double that weight. I had some old bicycle hooks and tried screwing them into the overhead wooden beam. Not only did they seem flimsy, but their size was so small, I had trouble getting the rear wheel + fender to fit past the opening. So I ordered a bunch more bicycle hooks from different manufacturers, hoping to find something better. As they arrived in the mail, they each matched my old hooks in size and quality. Then I received the Stanley product. Oh boy... 1) This hook is significantly larger in overall size, and will easily accommodate larger bicycle tires with fenders. 2) The screw itself is so much thicker than the competition, that it handles double the typical weight rating (100 lb. when hanging straight down from a wooden beam). 3) The coating is tougher than the typical vinyl coating you'll see on other hooks. For the price, you wouldn't have thought this product was anything special. Guess again.
